My Story
In 2014, I opened a private practice providing individual, academic support to students ranging from kindergarten on, in phonemic awareness, reading comprehension and fluency, writing, and math fluency.
I work with students using Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham based instruction. It is language and multi-sensory based learning. I also work with students who have been diagnosed with dyscalculia. It’s a math learning disability, affecting number sense and day-to-day, math-related day activities.
My History
My name is Caryn Azer. I have over 30 years experience as an educator. I studied Sociology and Early Childhood Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned my teaching license from Framingham State University. Throughout my career I have gained experience teaching a variety of age groups, (pre-school-high school), individually, small group, and as a classroom teacher.
As an educator, and former public school teacher, I worked with students with a variety of abilities and disabilities, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, language disorders, and English Language Learners. I provided individualized instruction, for students of all ages, in an acute care psychiatric facility. During my time in the classroom, I had a variety of training on the Science of Reading, different reading programs, and the implementation of various literacy assessments. I was hired as a math liaison to coordinate math curriculum, assessments, and school programs for students and teachers in kindergarten through 3rd grade. I also have the Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement.
